DECIMAL DOINGS!!!

In real life situations at school, we've discovered that decimals are used for money and for recording race times -we timed ourselves with stop watches and read our "decimal" race times!

Now can you help us please? In what real life situations have you used decimals? How else can we work with decimals at school?

  1. We used decimals at work when weighing patients.

I also use decimals at work when I fill in my time sheet

  4. Hello Middles!

I have been doing some sewing lately and I had to measure out lengths of material. I was measuring in metres but it wasn't always an even number of metres. Sometimes the material measured out in metres and centimetres,
eg: 1m and 25cm so then I'd think, well that's the same as 1.25m.

Hope you're all having fun...not long til the holidays! Yay!!

    Love from Margie (Joe's mum)

  5. Thanks for all the comments. Today we read them all and discussed "where the decimals were!" It really helped us!

As a teacher, I gave myself some warm feedback! I used a lot more real-life situations to teach decimals this year and I think that worked! Middles- you are awesome students when it comes to Maths!
