THE NIGHT ARRIVES - 2013 SCHOOL PRODUCTION
Ivan : You can hear the crowd applauding as they whoop and cheer for you! You can blink in the lights as they shine in your face and make you feel like true superstar. The idea of travelling Australia was a great idea and really showed the culture and beauty of our land.
Akon: After visiting beautiful Victoria and South Australia, the family headed to Western Australia, meeting some boot scootin boys and girls, while listening to some country music...oh, and the Flame Trees, the beautiful classic, touching the audience's heart.
Rylee: Finishing off with flame trees was beautiful...singing the song loudly, but smoothly...the atmosphere was filled with emotion.
Joe: I was feeling nervous backstage as the narrators spoke their opening lines. I peeked through the curtains to hear, "So sit back, put on your seat belt and enjoy the pleasures of our wonderful students and our Great Southern land." Then I knew it was time....
Conor: Have you ever felt that feeling...when you're about to go on stage...about to show everyone in that audience...what you're worth...what you've got and how awesome you are? You've got one chance, not two, and the only person who can make it work is you!
Simon: "Senior MY and their amazing act are coming!" I imagine my family saying as I step onto the stage!I walk on to the stage and hear the music....I loved it!

WONDER AND AWE - The Gift of Creation
As we work on our sustainability unit, it is a perfect time to consider God's call to be stewards of creation. After watching David Attenborough's beautiful images accompany, Louis Armstrong's, "What a Wonderful World," we discussed the gift of wonder and awe and selected our own favourite images of creation.

POSITIVE EDUCATION - SENIORS EXPO
Reflecting about a great project: Yesterday the Seniors performed our plays and presented our media about what we have learnt this year in Positive Education. Not only was it super fun, but it helped us to revise our learning. It was a very memorable day for us and the rest of the school. We shared learning about goal-setting, bullying and cyber bullying and being resilient in our daily lives. We hope we can do this again.

MAKING OUR OWN MOVIES ABOUT MATHS HELPS US TO LEARN MATHS!
We were learning about decimals, how to multiply and divide them. We created videos to show others how to perform these operations. Before filming, we needed to revise the maths, write scripts, prepare our props and rehearse. It took lots of teamwork and really made us think about the maths and how to clearly explain the process. We noticed some mistakes when re-viewing the movies...does this matter?
REACTIONS TO LEARNING THIS WAY!
Akon: It was a really hands-on way of learning - different and creative.
Amber: We were able to critique the movies and to see for ourselves where we made mistakes.
Simon: Because it was a fun thing to do, I think I will remember it better.
Tristian: It was a creative way to learn, a different way of sharing our maths.
Norhan: There were two purposes to this - having fun and learning Maths as well.
Lizzy: Watching the movies again was useful for revision.
Rylee: It was an easy way to learn from our mistakes...better than lots of teacher talk.

BTN our opinion - Speaking Out
We felt that watching this BTN made up of all these different videos (Martin Luther King, Voting, Archie Roach and Rules of War) inspired us all. Videoing each other helped us all to build self confidence in public talking but we could have improved on the video taking as it wasn't stable. We will use this activity to inspire further development of our speaking skills in Term 4.

Hands on learning- ratio and cordial!
Today we experimented with cordial to learn about ratio and how we can use ratio in real life situations We learnt how to write ratios normally, as a fraction part and a whole. Here is some examples:
Ratio Fraction Part Fraction whole
1:2 1/2 1/3
1:4 1/4 1/5
Tristian and Ivan
I liked this learning activity because it was hands on and easy to remember because it was a fun activity and everyone enjoyed it . We learn well this way.
Daniel and Georgia
I think that learning in a fun way is a great way to get something stuck in your brain because you remember the fun experience. Now I know that when I have cordial never to put in 3 parts of cordial and 1 part water, yuck - Amber.

NOTABLES from AUSTRALIAN HISTORY

It was really cool staying in character for a day. I loved looking at others projects and costumes. It was interesting learning about people that have shaped our history and honouring them. I could tell that all the classes enjoyed it. I was also amazed at how I remembered my information and didn’t need my cheat sheet. I’m glad we did this project, it was an amazing experience.
Luke This was a very different type of project with many different things to do e.g dressing up, making artifacts and preparing a poster, poems and questions. Over all I think this project was one of the best I've had.Amber
It was hard to do because we had to learn all of the facts off by heart and be in character the whole time! I especially enjoyed it because we got to dress up and learn about famous Australians!
JessLet’s date back to the 1850s or even further to a place to meet our ancestors and to meet the famous and infamous, the good and the bad and to meet some remarkable people from long ago and explore their interesting lives. Friday was a great learning experience for everyone who was watching and admiring our working and for the people who were actually doing the work. It was great showing our learning to the people who didn’t know anything about these people and walked out with their head overflowing with facts. But you may just be thinking about the presentation of our knowledge... but how did we find out about these people? We have been studying these people intensely in class and at home, trying to find as many artefacts as possible for our presentations and we have been spending every free minute we had working really hard on our projects and trying to get as many facts as possible. Overall it was an amazing learning experience.MaireadLights, Camera, Action.Less complaining and more acting.Less makeup and more ‘in character’.This was awesome. This was hard. This was an experience to remember.Dresses, Suits, Doctors Cloaks.Less Aussie 2000’s and more 1900’s.Less Aussie accent and more posh tosh. This was amazing. This was fun.“This was an olden days' item.”
FOOTY DAY 2013

BOOK WEEK - "SHELFIES"
What a fantastic Book Week it was! Wednesday's costumes around the theme, "Read Across the Universe," were highly creative. To end the week, the whole school sat and soaked up a wonderful presentation of everyone's "shelfies"-fabulous photos from home of our students with their bookshelves, showing off their favourite books.
