A man who inspires me who has made many inspiring speeches and was willing to lead from the front is Nelson Mandela. At his trial before spending 27 years in jail for something he believed he said "During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."
Good luck this week preparing your speeches.
Lynda K-S

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7726590324459993231.post-56818854337474213122013-02-04T22:13:48.330+11:002013-02-04T22:13:48.330+11:00It is wonderful that you are studying such a fanta...It is wonderful that you are studying such a fantastic speech from history which really changed the world at that time. The best orators can fill their audience with hope and make them want to be better people themselves. They can make you believe that you really can change the world around you even if it's in a small way. Good luck with writing your own leadership speeches! They are inspiring words for leaders that is for sure. I teach 5/6 and we have been thinking about leadership today too. We watched two inspiring YouTube clips, one by the 'kid president' and one about a group of boys in Southern Thailand who founded their own football team. We then wrote leadership statements in preparation for our leadership applications.
Thanks for sharing your understandings.
